 Play Total of Five Games, Three at Home
 

The Hartford Wolf Pack today announced its 2010 preseason schedule. The team will play a total of five games, with three of them being home games, played at Trinity College in Hartford, Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT and Champions Skating Center in Cromwell, CT.

The Wolf Pack’s first preseason action is Thursday, September 23 against the new Albany Devils. That game will be played at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, the home of Albany’s parent club, the New Jersey Devils, and will face off at 1:00 PM. The first Wolf Pack home preseason contest is Wednesday, September 29 at 7:00, vs. the Devils at Trinity College’s Koeppel Community Sports Center, located at 175 New Britain Avenue in Hartford. Donations will be accepted at the door, in lieu of an admission charge, for this game, to benefit the Ryan Gordon/Hartford Wolf Pack Community Scholars Fund. This fund is a memorial to young Wolf Pack fan Ryan Gordon, who passed away in 2006 and asked that a portion of the monies set aside for his college education be donated to the Wolf Pack Community Foundation.

The Wolf Pack are also in home preseason action Friday, October 1 at the TD Bank Sports Center at Quinnipiac University, taking on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:00. There is a $5 admission charge for that game, and proceeds will benefit Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford, CT. The Wolf Pack and Sound Tigers then play a rematch the next night, Saturday, October 2, at 7:00, at the Rinks at Shelton, CT.

The Pack wrap up preseason play Sunday, October 3 at Champions Skating Center, 6 Progress Drive, Cromwell, CT. That day’s game is against the Worcester Sharks at 2:00. Admission is $5, to benefit Junior Wolf Pack Youth Hockey.

WOLF PACK PRESEASON SCHEDULE

Thu. Sept. 23 versus Albany at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ at 1:00

Wed. Sept. 29 hosting ALBANY at the KOEPPEL COMMUNITY SPORTS CENTER, at TRINITY COLLEGE. Game time is 7:00.

Fri. Oct. 1  the Pack host BRIDGEPORT at the TD BANK SPORTS CENTER in QUINNIPIAC UNIVERSITY. Game time again is 7:00.

Sat.  Oct. 2 the Pack visit Bridgeport at  The Rinks in Shelton, CT starting at 7:00.

Sun.   Oct. 3 Hartford finishes their pre-season schedule hosting WORCESTER at CHAMPIONS SKATING CENTER, in CROMWELL, CT with a starting time of 2:00.

    My knowledge is that it’s a done deal but that there are still some things in the hands of the lawyers that need to be worked out before an official announcement can be made. I’ve been told a couple of times that an announcement was coming and they haven’t… Bottom line…It’s in the hands of the attorneys

      I’m not an expert on it, but I would think from a marketing standpoint they have to get this done soon in order to get the sales moving forward. Whether or not they have to get it from a schedule release date would seem to make some sense if they are going to change the name.

      I’m guessing here, but I would think sometime in the next two weeks would be mandatory to make it work.

        If they do change the name, what happens with Howlings? Are you going to start a new site or just redesign this one? I assume you’re still going to cover them if they do become the Whalers, right?

    Let me assure you now that HOWLINGS will still continue no matter what the team’s name is. Granted the name HOWLINGS might be a little bizarre in terms of a Whale, but it would be insane to change it. Nobody would know where to find it…

    I will obviously have to remove the Wolf Pack aspect of it and replace/redesign it, but that’s not a big deal.

    I’m not abig fan of the color green, but what can you do?

    I think its crazy how long this has been put off. Obviously Wolfpack fans are going to be pretty ticked off about the whole thing and then they have to develope a whole fan base (that kind of already exists) in pretty much less than a month.

      There are a number of reasons why this took so long. The first is that Larry Gottsdiener didn’t want to get out of the way until just a couple of weeks ago. I’m pretty sure it would have been a violation of some sort of agreement had the Rangers had formal talks with Howard Baldwin and his group. These things take more than just a phone call or two to work out. I’m pretty sure they’re in the final stages now and I would expect an announcement coming soon.

      As far as Pack fans getting upset, I think that is VERY short sighted. While I love the Pack as much as any fan out there, nothing is really changing other than the name and the laundry. Who cares what they call it as long as they continue in the same tradition?

      I think that if Howard Baldwin takes charge that the arena is going to have a buzz about it again. Instead of barely 4,000 in the arena and little to no life, I would expect to see at least 6,000 a night in the first year (maybe more) and people getting excited again. Why is that a bad thing?

      AS far as I’m concerned, remember I’m a Rangers fan through and through, I could care less if they are called the Whalers. Why should people who have loved their team as much as some of these fans have, be denied the chance to live through this team? I believe in building consensus. I don’t believe in childish feuds whether it’s Whalers and Rangers or Republicans and Democrats. It’s all so highly immature and does nothing to help our society.

      If the Wolf Pack becoming the Whalers puts thousands more in the seats and eventually leads to Hartford once again becoming an NHL city, how is that a bad thing? I can’t fathom how it could be.

      If the team NEVER generates enough to warrant the City getting an NHL team why would it be bad to have a passionate fan base in the AHL? I’ll tell you this much, if this doesn’t work and the team STILL does not draw after Howard takes over, I can promise you the Rangers will move the team anyway and then where will everyone be?

      Just a thought or two for you…
