OFF TO KLINGER’S HOMETOWN FOR ROAD WARRIORS

TOLEDO, OH Tonight the Greenville Road Warriors face off against the Toledo Walleye as they go for their third consecutive road victory.

The Road Warriors (10-7-0) visit Toledo (8-9-0) tonight for the second of six scheduled meetings between the clubs. Fans can follow the action by watching live on  America One or listening at  www.greenvilleroadwarriors.com.

Tonight is Greenville’s third visit in its history to the Huntington Center and the Road Warriors are looking to continue their winning ways here. Greenville won both meetings in Toledo last season including a 3-0 shutout on February 26, 2011. The Road Warriors and Walleye are two of the hottest teams going in the ECHL right now and enter the game with identical 6-2-0 records in their last eight games. The Walleye are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks, and the AHL affiliate of the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Rockford Ice Hogs.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The Road Warriors are 15-3-0 in their history against North Division opponents. They have the most wins against Kalamazoo (4) among current North Division teams.
  • Goalie Nic Riopel is tied for second in the league with nine wins this season. He is 19-3-1 in his last 23 regular season starts dating back to February 2011.
  • The Road Warriors are 3-2-0 on their seven-game road trip. They are going for their first 3-game road win streak of the season tonight.
  • Road Warriors are tied with Colorado and Wheeling for the fewest first goals (7) among teams with winning records. Road Warriors are 5-2-0 when scoring first.
  • Road Warriors are eight in the ECHL with 3.18 goals per game. Leading goal scorers Jeff Prough (11) and Brendan Connolly (10) account for 39 percent of Greenville’s goals.
