The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that they have received goaltender Nic Riopel as well as defensemen Lee Baldwin and Cullen Eddy from their respective teams in the American Hockey League.
Riopel was released from his professional try out agreement by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on January 18 and has returned to the Road Warriors. He was originally loaned to Bridgeport on December 26 and returned to Greenville briefly to play in the Road Warriors’ home game on December 29 before re-joining the Sound Tigers the next day. Riopel served as the back up goaltender for the entirety of his call-up to Bridgeport. He is in his second season with Greenville and has compiled an 11-4-1 record in 16 appearances.
Baldwin was reassigned to the Road Warriors by the New York Rangers from the AHL’s Connecticut Whale on January 19. He was called up to Connecticut from Greenville on December 19 and played in eight games with the Whale. A second-year professional, Baldwin has three goals and is a +5 in 11 games with the Road Warriors. His three goals are tied with Eddy for the most among Road Warriors defensemen.
Eddy was loaned to the Road Warriors by the AHL’s Adirondack Phantoms earlier today. The second-year pro defensemen has logged 23 games with the Phantoms and produced eight points (1G, 7A) along with 63 penalty minutes. His eight points ranked fourth among Phantoms defensemen. He has been in the AHL since November 19, his most recent game with the Road Warriors. With Greenville he has 11 points (3G, 8A) in 12 games which is still good for third most among Road Warrior defensemen.
All three are expected to be available to be in the line up tonight when the Road Warriors take on the Stingrays in North Charleston.
Mark your calendars! The Road Warriors face off against the Gwinnett Gladiators on Saturday, January 21 at 7:05 p.m. at the BI-LO Center.
