North Charleston, SC The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, were halted tonight at the North Charleston Coliseum by the South Carolina Stingrays in a 6-0 decision. The Stingrays turned a complete 180 from Games 1 and 2, to earn the first win of the best-of-7 South Division Semifinal series. Parker Milner collected his first career playoff shutout in the game to bounce the Stingrays back.

Greenville hit the road for the first time in the postseason after grabbing a 2-0 series lead at home. North Charleston was not friendly to the Swamp Rabbits who trailed for the first time all series in the first period. Olivier Archambault netted his first goal of the playoffs on a puck that ricochets to the right side of the net. Steve Weinstein let the shot go from the left point as it bounced to the side for Archambault. The goal at 11:05 proved to be the game-winner and was the first of multiple goals around the crease.

A minute later, the Stingrays took the 2-0 lead as Rob Flick had a puck slide in off his skate. The sixth-year pro raced to the front of the net and Wade Epp’s shot from the blue line bounced in off his boot. Flick would tally a hat trick in the contest, recording South Carolina’s final two goals in the third period.

Greenville would get chances in the second period. Joey Leach was called for two separate double minor high sticking penalties, totaling eight minutes of penalty time. In addition, the Swamp Rabbits came up empty in the third period on a 5-on-3. The Stingrays held Greenville off the board despite nine power play chances.

Joe Devin tallied the third goal of the game following a big penalty kill in the second period to extend the lead. The captain’s second goal of the season made it 3-0 on a quick pass from Kelly Zajac. Then the Stingrays added a one more tally from Domenic Monardo on the power play. After chopping down the puck at center ice the winger stepped into the zone, letting a shot go from the high slot. Monardo’s shot was the only goal recorded from outside the hash marks.

The garbage goals panned out for the Stingrays as deflections ruled the game for South Carolina. Jeff Malcolm made 38 saves in the finish but suffered his first postseason in 2017. Parker Milner recorded his first win of the series and third in his playoff career on 25 saves.

Greenville is back at the North Charleston Coliseum on Tuesday night for Game 4 at 7:05 p.m. South Carolina has the home-ice momentum after the victory but Greenville leads the series at 2-1.
