Greenville, SC – The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (15-10-2-0), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, announced today that forward Caleb Cameron has been signed to a contract with the club. The rookie comes to Greenville from the SPHL’s Macon Mayhem where he earned 20 points (8G, 12A) in 14 games.
Cameron, 24, began his pro career with the Adirondack Thunder, signing with the club in September and made his ECHL debut on Oct. 21, 2017. The Sundridge, Ontario native later joined Macon in the SPHL, becoming one of the top performers in the league. Cameron ranked among the top 10 scorers in the league despite playing fewer games than the rest of the top scorers. Prior to leaving the Mayhem, Cameron logged at least a point in each of the last five games (3G, 5A).
The rookie played for the Rochester Institute of Technology for the last four seasons and logged over 130 games in the NCAA. The 5-foot-10 winger recorded 58 points (20G, 38A) for the Tigers from 2013 to 2017. Cameron helped RIT achieve three consecutive AHA Conference titles from 2014 to 2016.
Before joining the NCAA ranks, Cameron played three seasons in the GOJHL for the Listowel Cyclones, logging 189 points (82G, 107A) in 147 games. He proceeded to earn the honor of GOJHL Most Valuable Player in 2013, ranking third among all scores in the league.
In an additional transaction, forward Allan McPherson has decided to pursue playing opportunities overseas and has been placed on team suspension. McPherson tallied 34 points in 27 games this season and 62 points in 57 games in the last two years with Greenville.
The Swamp Rabbits play three games at home this week beginning on Thursday night, facing off with the South Carolina Stingrays and Jacksonville Icemen at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
