SHOUTOUT TO A SHOOTOUT AT HOME
The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (15-12-2-1), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, completed a low scoring three-game week at home on Saturday earning a point in the shootout just before the holiday break. Evan Jasper, Carter Sandlak, and Joe Basaraba each scored goals for Greenville, helping the team continue its streak of earning a standings point in every week of the season. The Swamp Rabbits held both the South Carolina Stingrays and Jacksonville Icemen off the scoreboard in the first period of all three games over the weekend. On Saturday it was the Swamp Rabbits opening the scoring, taking a 2-0 advantage early in the second period. Branden Troock tallied Greenville’s lone goal in the shootout, but South Carolina held onto its comeback with a pair of tallies in the skills competition. Ty Rimmer made 77 saves over two games against the Stingrays, while Brandon Halverson stopped 29 of 31 shots on Friday night against Jacksonville.

The Swamp Rabbits goaltender played two games for Greenville and helped the team capture a point in Saturday night’s shootout. Rimmer made 32 saves on Thursday in his first outing of the week and followed it up with 45 saves in Saturday’s 3-2 shootout loss. It is the fifth time this season that the Edmonton, Alberta native has made 40-plus saves in a game. Rimmer is 4-0-0-1 in those five games and is one of only ten goaltenders this year to achieve 10 wins.
