CANTLON’S CORNER: FERGUSON, JR. INTERESTED IN SEATTLE

HARTFORD, CT – Current Boston Bruins Director of Player Development, John Ferguson, Jr. has confirmed to Cantlon’s Corner what was first reported by TSN, that he does have an interest in the potential NHL expansion Seattle GM position.

“It’s something I have thought about once and if the expansion application has been accepted by the NHL. Certainly, I would want to see what it all entails. Seattle will be a very big deal if they get in,” said Ferguson cautiously.

Given his wide-ranging experience, Ferguson can be considered as a serious contender for consideration. He ran a huge NHL operation in Toronto with the Maple Leafs and has helped operate two AHL franchises in St. John’s and Worcester. He is currently doing Player Development for Boston and has been in all facets of hockey sports management.

Ferguson’s familiarity with the AHL, and his being a Providence College grad makes him very knowledgeable on the college hockey scene. With the Las Vegas expansion draft as a guide, stocking a 32nd NHL team will require a background in those two areas – AHL and college – in order to build a team from the ground up making Ferguson an excellent choice.
