CRAWFORD: WOLF PACK ANNOUNCE ROSTER ADDITIONS – RONNING & SALVAGGIO
BY: Bob Crawford, Hartford Wolf Pack
HARTFORD, April 7, 2018: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Chris Drury announced today that the team has signed forwards Ty Ronning and Jason Salvaggio to Amateur Tryout (ATO) agreements.
Ronning, a seventh-round pick (201st overall) by the parent New York Rangers in the 2016 NHL Draft, set a Vancouver Giants (WHL) franchise record with 61 goals this season, good for second-most in the league. The 20-year-old Scottsdale, Arizona native also had 23 assists, for a team-leading 84 points, in 70 games on the season.
The 5-9, 172-pound Ronning played 12 games with the Wolf Pack last year, scoring two goals and adding three assists for five points, after notching 25-28-53 in 68 games with the Giants. In 285 career games with Vancouver, Ronning has totaled 127 goals and 91 assists for 218 points, along with 112 penalty minutes. Ronning’s father Cliff played 1,137 NHL games from 1986-87 through 2003-04, with the St. Louis Blues, Vancouver Canucks, Phoenix Coyotes, Nashville Predators, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild and New York Islanders.
Salvaggio, 24, comes to the Wolf Pack from the University of New Hampshire (Hockey East), where he just completed a four-year career. In 36 games this season with the Wildcats, the 6-0, 190-pound Hanson, Massachusetts native tallied eight goals and eight assists for 16 points and served 42 minutes in penalties. He finished tied for third on the U.N.H. team in goals and third in PIM.
Salvaggio suited up for a total of 116 games in his Wildcat career, scoring 34 goals and adding 26 assists for 60 points, with 116 penalty minutes.
