New Premier Partner will provide housing for Mariners players

PORTLAND, ME – August 3, 2018 – The Maine Mariners and Redbank Village Apartments announced a partnership on Friday making Redbank Village “The Official Home of the Mariners” for their inaugural season. The Premier Partnership gives Mariners players housing in the South Portland-based village, located just five miles from Cross Insurance Arena.
The ECHL – unlike the AHL, mandates that each team provides living quarters for players. Frequent call-ups and reassignments of players by parent clubs (in the Mariners’ case, the NHL’s New York Rangers and AHL’s Hartford Wolfpack), result in oft-changing rosters throughout the season.
“The nature of the ECHL has a lot of player movement in and out so housing is a huge priority for us,” said Mariners head coach Riley Armstrong. “The apartments at Redbank Village are a perfect fit for our players and the convenience in location is unmatched.”
Offering one and three bedroom apartments, along with two bedroom townhomes, Redbank Village offers its tenants off-street parking, a clubhouse, fitness center, and more. They’re located just south of the Portland International Jetport and just Northeast of the Maine Mall.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Maine Mariners for their inaugural season,” said Holly Souza-Barry, Property Manager at Redbank Village. “Our unbeatable location makes us a natural fit for the team’s needs, and we are excited to welcome our newest residents home.”
As part of the partnership, Redbank Village will sponsor two postgame skates throughout the season as well as serve as the presenting partner of Fan & Sponsor Appreciation Day on April 7th, 2019. That day, which is the final game of the regular season – a 3:00 PM faceoff against the Newfoundland Growlers, is also Portland & South Portland Community Day.
The Mariners, proud affiliate of the New York Rangers, will start to play in the inaugural season October 13, 2018, as members of the ECHL. The ECHL is the premier AA hockey league in the United States. Season tickets for the Mariners inaugural season are on sale now by visiting www.marinersofmaine.com or call toll free 833-GO-MAINE.
