Wallin loaned, St-Amant recalled to Hartford, Mariners get Ronning
BY: Michael Keeley, Maine Mariners
PORTLAND, ME – November 19, 2018 – The Mariners and their AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, made a series of moves on Monday. Forwards Terrence Wallin and Shawn St-Amant will join the Wolf Pack, while forward Ty Ronning was reassigned to Maine.
Terrence Wallin, Mariners alternate captain, is second on the team in scoring with 10 points (3 goals, 7 assists) and will get his second AHL opportunity, as the Mariners loan him to Hartford. He appeared in four games on loan with the Binghamton Devils last season while under contract with the Adirondack Thunder. Wallin is a big-time hockey success story, having begun his pro career in the SPHL with Peoria in 2015-16.
Shawn St-Amant is also headed to Hartford on a call-up. St-Amant began the season with the Wolf Pack and was reassigned to Maine on October 31st. In seven games, he’s scored four goals with three assists. St-Amant scored an overtime winner at Worcester on November 9th and then registered a hat trick as part of a four-point game this past Wednesday at home against Orlando. He’s played previously in the AHL with the San Antonio Rampage and also was a part of the previous two ECHL Kelly Cup Champion Colorado Eagles teams.
The Mariners add forward Ty Ronning to the roster from Hartford, reassigned by the New York Rangers. Ronning is on an NHL contract, signing an entry-level contract with the Rangers in March of this year. The Rangers drafted him in 2016, in the 7th round. The 21-year-old native of Burnaby, BC put up an 84 point year in his final WHL season with the Vancouver Giants in 17-18. He was also an alternate captain on the team. He played 12 games with Hartford the previous season (16-17), three last year after aging out of Junior, and eight so far this season. He’s posted three goals and three assists in that span.
Maine is home this Saturday, November 24th to host the Manchester Monarchs at 6:00 PM. It’s Teddy Bear Toss Night and the first 2,000 fans through the gate will receive a Mariners’ winter beanie. Tickets can be purchased at MarinersOfMaine.com or by calling 207-775-3458.
