Forward Returns for a Second Stint with Hartford

HARTFORD, February 21, 2017:  Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack has signed forward Tommy Thompson to a Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement.

Thompson, a 26-year-old rookie out of St. Lawrence University, played one game with the Wolf Pack on an earlier PTO, going scoreless with one shot on goal.  In 43 games with the Wolf Pack’s ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, the 6-1, 196-pound Thompson has 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points, plus 21 penalty minutes.  He is tied for third on the Greenville club in goals and tied for fifth in points.

The Wolf Pack’s next action is this Friday night, February 24, when the Hershey Bears come to the XL Center for a 7:15 PM game.  As at all Friday-night Wolf Pack home games, fans can enjoy $1 and $2 beers through the start of the second period, and the first 2,000 fans will receive the fourth of four sets of Wolf Pack 20th-anniversary trading cards being given away during this 2016-17 season, presented by KOTA. The set is comprised of the group of the players chosen as the top five all-time in franchise history.

HARTFORD, February 15, 2017:  Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack has released forward Allan McPherson from his Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement, and has returned defenseman Spiro Goulakos on loan to its ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

McPherson, who had been with the Wolf Pack since December 5, skated in 28 games with Hartford, contributing one goal and three assists for four points and serving 14 minutes in penalties.  Prior to joining the Wolf Pack, the third-year pro out of Clarkson University had logged seven games with the Swamp Rabbits, producing one goal and three assists for four points and registering one minor penalty. Played in one Game after Callup from ECHL Greenville

HARTFORD, February 11, 2017:  Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack has released forward Tommy Thompson from his Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement.

Thompson appeared in one game with the Wolf Pack, making his AHL debut in last Saturday’s 4-2 home loss to Rochester after having joined the Wolf Pack earlier in the day.  In 40 games with the Wolf Pack’s ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, this year, the rookie out of St. Lawrence University has 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points, along with 19 penalty minutes.

The Wolf Pack are in action tonight in Hershey, taking on the division-rival Bears in a 7:00 PM game.  All of the excitement of that battle can be heard live on News Radio 1410 WPOP, and on-line at www.newsradio1410.com and iHeartRadio.  Video streaming is available at www.ahllive.com.

The next Wolf Pack home game is Sunday, February 19, a 5:00 game vs. the Springfield Thunderbirds, and that is “Sonar Saves Pet Adoption Night”.  Fans can take a look at a number of Sonar’s lovable little friends who are in need of good homes with loving families.  February 19 is also another “Click It or Ticket Family Value Pack” game.  The Family Value Pack includes two tickets, two sodas and two hot dogs, all for just $40.

St. Lawrence U. Product Leads Greenville ECHL Club in Goals

HARTFORD, February 4, 2017:  Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack has signed forward Tommy Thompson to a Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement.

Thompson, 26, a rookie out of St. Lawrence University, has skated in 40 games with the Wolf Pack’s ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits this year.  The 6-1, 196-pound Londonderry, NH native leads the Swamp Rabbits in goals with 14, and also has 13 assists for 27 points, good for third on the team.

Last season, Thompson played in eight games with Greenville following the conclusion of his Senior season at St. Lawrence, registering two goals and four penalty minutes.  In 37 games with St. Lawrence in 2015-16, he had nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points, plus 22 PIM.  Those totals tied him for fourth on the Saints’ team in goals and for fifth in points.

Second-year Pro has 11 Goals, Tied for Most Among ECHL Blueliners

HARTFORD, January 28, 2017:  Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack has recalled defenseman Spiro Goulakos from its ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

Goulakos, a 6-2, 185-pound second-year pro, is tied for the ECHL lead in goals among defensemen, with 11, and also has 14 assists for 25 points, plus a team-leading 53 penalty minutes, in 31 games with the Swamp Rabbits.  The 26-year-old Montreal native stands second among team defensemen in points, is tied for third overall on the squad in goals and is fourth in points. Magnus Hellberg Returned by Rangers, Mackenzie Skapski Reassigned to Greenville

HARTFORD, January 26, 2017:  Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the parent New York Rangers have returned goaltender Magnus Hellberg to the Wolf Pack and that the Rangers have reassigned netminder Mackenzie Skapski from the Wolf Pack to its ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

Hellberg appeared in one game with the Rangers following his recall on January 16. He stopped all four shots he faced while making his 2016-17 season debut with the Rangers on January 17 vs. Dallas. The 6-6, 209-pounder has appeared in 25 games with the Wolf Pack this season, posting a 10-9-4 record, along with a 2.91 goals-against average and a 90.5% save percentage.

Skapski, who had joined the Wolf Pack January 17, is 1-6-0 in eight AHL appearances this season, with a 4.66 GAA and an 85.2% save percentage.  In 17 ECHL games with the Swamp Rabbits, the third-year pro out of the Western Hockey League is 8-7-0, with a 3.06 GAA, a 90.2% save percentage and one shutout.

The Wolf Pack’s next game is tomorrow night, Friday, January 27, when they travel to Bridgeport to take on the Sound Tigers.  Faceoff is 7:00 PM and all of the action can be heard live on News Radio 1410 WPOP, and on-line at newsradio1410.com and iHeartRadio.  Video streaming is available at ahllive.com.

HARTFORD, January 18, 2017:  Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack has returned forwards Michael Joly and Ahti Oksanen to its ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

Joly, a rookie out of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, has skated in 18 games with the Wolf Pack this season and has chalked up two goals and two assists for four points, along with six penalty minutes.  Signed to an AHL contract by the Wolf Pack May 13, Joly has seven goals and three assists for ten points in eight ECHL games with the Swamp Rabbits.

Oksanen has logged 15 games with the Wolf Pack, contributing two goals and two assists for four points, plus two penalty minutes.  Prior to being recalled from the Swamp Rabbits December 11, the first-year pro out of Boston University had six goals and five assists for 11 points, as well as two PIM, in 19 games with Greenville.  Oksanen signed an AHL contract with the Wolf Pack June 14.

RANGERS, SPECTRA BY COMCAST SPECTACOR EXTEND WOLF PACK AGREEMENT

Extension Covers 2017-18 AHL Season

HARTFORD, January 11, 2017:  The New York Rangers today extended their agreement with Spectra by Comcast Spectacor, the providers of Venue Management to the XL Center, for the Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers’ American Hockey League affiliate, to continue playing their home games at the XL Center through the 2017-18 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Wolf Pack franchise is currently in its 20th year as a Ranger affiliate.  That represents the second-longest current continuous affiliation between an NHL club and a single AHL market in the league, surpassed only by the 25 seasons in partnership between the Boston Bruins and Providence, RI. HARTFORD, January 10, 2017:  Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack has released forward Brandon Alderson from his Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement, and returned him to the Wolf Pack’s ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

Summoned from Greenville last Monday, Alderson skated in three games with the Wolf Pack, registering one assist, one minor penalty, a +1 and three shots on goal.  In 17 games with the Swamp Rabbits, the fourth-year pro has ten goals and nine assists for 19 points, plus 20 penalty minutes.

The Wolf Pack’s next action is tomorrow night, Wednesday, January 11, when they continue a stretch of four straight road games with a visit to Rochester to take on the Americans.  Faceoff is 7:05 PM.  All of the action can be heard live on News Radio 1410 WPOP, and on-line at www.newsradio1410.com and iHeartRadio.  Video streaming is available at www.ahllive.com.
