The Rangers play their 55th game of the 2016-17 season and conclude a season-long, four-game homestand tomorrow, Feb. 11, against the Colorado Avalanche at Madison Square Garden (7:00 p.m. ET – TV: MSG Network; Radio: ESPN 98.7 FM). The Blueshirts enter the contest on a four-game winning streak and have won each of the first three games of their four-game homestand. The Rangers play their 51st game of the 2016-17 season tomorrow, Feb. 2, against the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center (7:30 p.m. ET – TV: MSG Network; Radio: ESPN 98.7 FM). The Rangers have posted a 31-18-1 record this season.

RANGERS VS. SABRES

  • All-Time: 70-76-25-5 (39-30-15-3 at home; 31-46-10-2 on the road)
  • 2016-17: Tomorrow’s game is the third and final meeting between the Rangers and Sabres, and the second of two meetings between the two teams in Buffalo. The Rangers have posted a 0-2-0 record (0-1-0 at home; 0-1-0 on the road), as the Blueshirts were defeated by the Sabres, 4-1, in the last meeting between the two teams on Jan. 3 at MSG. Four different Blueshirts have registered a goal and 11 different Rangers have tallied a point thus far in the season series.
  • The Rangers have won nine of their last 12 games against Buffalo, dating back to Apr. 19, 2013 (9-3-0 record over the span). The Blueshirts have also won five of their last six games against the Sabres in Buffalo (5-1-0).

CANTLON’S CORNER: PACK DO THREE-IN-THREE

HARTFORD, CT – The Hartford Wolf Pack return to the XL Center for some home cooking and another weekend of three-games-in-three-days where incredibly, they can pick up some ground in an effort to make a run at the eighth and final playoff spot.

Friday at 7:15 pm they will host a heated rival, the Toronto Marlies. The Pack lost 5-3 in their last meeting back on December 10th in what was a chippy affair.

The Rochester Americans come to town on Saturday night with the AHL’s third leading scorer in UCONN grad, Cole Schneider (34-15-22-37). The Amerks also feature ex-Pack (and Bridgeport Sound Tiger) Justin Vaive, ex-CT Whale Tim Kennedy, and Alexander Nylander, the youngest son of former Hartford Whaler and New York Ranger, Michael Nylander. The younger Nylander coming off a strong WJC tourney for Team Sweden. Then. on Sunday afternoon, the Pack makes the trek to Providence to face the Bruins and close out the weekend.

Despite being in last place in the division and conference, the Pack are just eight points behind Bridgeport, who are currently holding the final playoff spot. The Pack are tied for the lowest winning percentage with the Rockford IceHogs at .410, but the Pack sit 29th in the league with one more win at 14-21-3-1. Continue reading
