CRITICAL GAME AS WARRIORS LOOK TO GET EVEN WITH FLORIDA

Tonight the Greenville Road Warriors aim to even up their first round playoff series with the Florida Everblades before returning to the Upstate for Game Three

The Road Warriors (88 pts., 4th place Eastern Conference) visit Florida (85 pts., 5th place Eastern Conference) today for the second game of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series. Fans can follow the action by watching live on America One or listening at Greenvilleroadwarriors.com. Greenville trails the series 1-0 after falling 5-2 in Game One in Florida on Monday night. The game was a power play festival with the teams combining for 15 man-advantage chances. Florida went 2-for-9 with both goals coming on 5-on-3 chances. The Road Warriors, meanwhile, were 1-for-6 with Sean Berkstresser providing the marker. The Road Warriors will try to avoid something that has only happened to them one other time in their brief history; losing back-to-back playoff games. The only instance in which that occurred was Games Three and Four of their Eastern Conference semifinal series against Wheeling in 2011.

NOTEWORTHY:

Brandon Wong (6G, 7A) and Justin Bowers (4G, 9A) led the Road Warriors with 13 points against Florida during the regular season. Scott Pitt (5G, 5A) and Matt Beca (3G, 7A) paced Florida against Greenville with 10.
  • Jason Missiaen went 2-2-1 against the Everblades in the regular season. He was 1-1-0 at Germain Arena and won his last start here on January 27 (4-3 SOW).
  • Greenville’s offense has been limited to two goals in five of its last six games which includes the regular season. Greenville was a combined 2-for-18 on the power play in those games.
  • Jeff Caister has 11 points (4G, 7A) in 18 career playoff games. His .61 points per game average in playoffs is almost twice as much as his .37 points per game average in the regular season.
  • The Road Warriors have four rookies on the roster making their professional playoff debuts. That is almost three times less than the 11 rookies that made their playoff debuts last season.

WARRIORS SLAIN BY GLADIATORS

The Greenville Road Warriors had a third period lead slip away and they fell to Gwinnett 2-1 in the shootout on Friday night at the BI-LO Center. The 3-2 setback left the Road Warriors‘ record at 40-22-6.

PLAYOFF BOUND IN GREENVILLE

Greenville Road Warriors    VERSUS      Cincinatti Cyclones

Behind a hat trick from Brandon Wong the Greenville Road Warriors defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones 5-1 at the BI-LO Center on Sunday afternoon. The win was Greenville’s 40th of the season and clinched a second-straight Kelly Cup Playoff berth.

ROAD WARRIORS – KEEPING UP THE PACE

For the third time this season the Road Warriors used a late third-period goal to forge a tie before beating South Carolina in extra time. The 2-1 win in a nine-round shootout gave Greenville a 3-2 victory and improved its record to 39-21-5 on the season.

FIRST PLACE ON THE LINE IN GWINNETT

Today the Greenville Road Warriors wrap up a three-in-three weekend by paying a visit to the Gwinnett Gladiators. It will be the second time this week that Greenville and Gwinnett meet with first place in the Eastern Conference on the line.

The Road Warriors (38-21-4, 80 pts.) visit Gwinnett (35-17-11, 81 pts.) today for the 14th of 17 meetings between the clubs this season. Fans can follow the action by watching America One or listening at Greenvilleroadwarriors.com. Greenville is looking to take down Gwinnett tonight and snap a four-game losing streak (0-3-1) at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. The last time Greenville won here was a 4-2 triumph on October 22, 2011. Including their inaugural season, the Road Warriors are 5-8-1 in Gwinnett.

WHO BRINGS A STINGER TO A SHOOTOUT?

The Greenville Road Warriors picked up a hard-fought 3-2 win over the South Carolina Stingrays at the North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday night. The Road Warriors used a 2-1 shootout triumph to earn the win and improve their record to 38-21-4.
