It’s Miller TimeJ.T. Miller recorded two assists and tied for the game-high with two takeaways in 14:26 of ice time. Miller split last season between the Rangers and Hartford (AHL), and established AHL career-highs in goals (15), assists (27), points (42), plus/minus rating (plus-10), and shots on goal (128) in 41 contests with the Wolf Pack. He registered two points in four playoff games with the Rangers, and ranked sixth on the Blueshirts in plus/minus rating (plus-three) in the 2014 playoffs. Continue reading

NEW YORK, September 17, 2014 – The New York Rangers announced the roster for their 2014 Training Camp today.

The Rangers are inviting 63 players to Training Camp, which begins tomorrow, Thursday, September 18 at MSG Training Center. Twenty-two of the 63 invitees represented the Rangers at the 2014 Traverse City Tournament.

The roster breakdown for Training Camp is as follows:

JOHN MOORE SIGNS 1-YEAR $800,000 DEAL

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the team has agreed to terms with restricted free agent defenseman John Moore.

Moore, 23, skated in 74 games with the Rangers this past season, registering four goals and 11 assists for 15 points, along with 25 penalty minutes and a plus-seven rating. He established career-highs in games played, goals, assists, points, plus/minus rating, game-winning goals (two), power play assists (two), power play points (two), shots on goal (115), and hits (59). Moore ranked fifth on the team in blocked shots (57). He also finished second among Rangers defensemen in game-winning goals and shots on goal, third in goals, points, and plus/minus rating, tied for third in power play assists, ranked fourth in power play points, and tied for fourth in assists.  Continue reading

RESILIENT KINGS RECORD COMEBACK WIN ON WILLIAMS’ OT GOAL

  • Kings forward Justin Williams scored the first playoff overtime goal of his NHL career to give the Kings a 3-2 win in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. He now has 1-3—4 in 30 career postseason overtime games.
  • Williams, who also earned an assist on Drew Doughty’s second-period goal, posted his second consecutive and sixth overall multi-point game of the postseason. He recorded 1-1—2, including the primary assist on Alec Martinez’s overtime winner, in Game 7 of the Western Conference Final.

NEXT GENERATION OF RANGERS GETTING SIGNED

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms on an entry-level contract with goaltender Mackenzie Skapski.

Skapski, 19, appeared in 53 games with the Kootenay Ice of the Western Hockey League (WHL) this past season, posting a 28-20-4 record, along with a 2.70 GAA, a .916 SV%, and one shutout. Skapski posted career-bests in both GAA and SV% during the season. He also ranked sixth in the WHL in SV%, tied for seventh in wins, and ranked 10th in GAA. He registered a career-high, 10-game winning streak from January 12, 2014 to February 11, 2014, posting a 1.80 GAA and a .940 SV% over the span.

The 6-3, 191-pounder registered a 34-25-1 record, along with a 2.78 GAA, a .910 SV%, and seven shutouts in 2012-13. Skapski’s 34 wins and seven shutouts were both career-highs, and he tied for first in the WHL in shutouts.

In 141 career WHL appearances, all with Kootenay, Skapski posted a 74-52-7 record, a 2.81 GAA, a .909 SV%, and eight shutouts. He recorded his first WHL win while making his WHL debut on January 29, 2011 vs. Lethbridge. Skapski also registered a 4-8 record in 15 career playoff appearances with Kootenay.
