GREENVILLE SHUT OUT AGAIN – SERIES AND SEASON OVER

Greenville, SC: The Road Warriors ended the 2012-13 season with a 5-0 loss in game five against the Reading Royals.

GREENVILLE SHUTOUT…AGAIN

First Round: GAME FOUR of the BEST OF SEVEN

Greenville, SC: For the third time in the series the Road Warriors could not score a goal in the 3-0 loss against the Reading Royals.

Yannik Tifu opened the scoring by taking advantage of the Road Warriors incapability of clearing the puck. The leader scorer for Reading during the regular season drove a quick wrist shot past Connor Knapp for 1-0 lead through the first period.

In the second period, Tifu scored his second of the game on a back-door goal. Nikita Kashirsky faked a slap shot, which drew the defense away from Tifu, to feed the open forward for his second assist of the game.

Greenville had trouble generating much offense in the later stages of the game. T.J. Syner exposed the defense pinching in the offensive zone and scored on a breakaway goal to finish off Greenville in game four. Knapp took the loss with 31 saves. Mark Owuya shut the Road Warriors for his first shutout of the year with 29 saves. Reading won the game by a 3-0 score and takes a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

RW SEASON ENDS WITH A LOSS

Gwinnett, GA: The Gwinnett Gladiators defeated the Road Warriors by a 4-1 score in the last game of the 2012-2013 regular season.

Forward Justin Bowers put the Gladiators on the board with a blistering wrist shot that beat Connor Knapp glove high. With the goal, Bowers collected his 18th of the year. Tristin Llewellyn made it a two goal lead with a quick shot at the point that found the net. Bowers collected an assist on the goal for his second point of the game. Continue reading

STUNG AGAIN

Greenville, SC: The Road Warriors were beaten by the South Carolina Stingrays for the second consecutive night by a 3-1 score.

The Road Warriors controlled the early stages of the first period with many chances and scoring opportunities. Jason Wilson took a penalty towards the end of the first which halted Greenville’s momentum. The forward was issued a match penalty and a five minute major for elbowing. With 51 seconds left Eric Alexander scored his first professional goal on a rebound with the man advantage. Continue reading
