ROADIES ANNOUNCE PRESEASON SCHEDULE

Greenville, SC: The Greenville Road Warriors, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, announced today the 2014 preseason schedule.

The team will be on the road for a pair of games that will be hosted by South Division rivals, the South Carolina Stingrays and the Gwinnett Gladiators. The first game will be played against the Stingrays on Saturday, October 11th at the Carolina Ice Palace. Opening faceoff takes place at 7:05 p.m.

The final preseason game will be played against the Gladiators on Sunday, October 12th at the Duluth Ice Forum. The game is set to start at 5:30 p.m.

The Road Warriors kick off their 5th season of hockey in the Upstate on Friday, October 24th against the South Carolina Stingrays at 7 p.m. Season tickets are available now and start as low as $170. ROADIES SIGN HEGARTY AND GEOFFRION

Greenville, SC: Today the Greenville Road Warriors, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, announced the signings of defenseman Ryan Hegarty and forward Sebastian Geoffrion.

“As one of the most liked teammates last year, I have expectations for Ryan to bring a leadership presence to the locker room and also continue to hone his skills as a two-way defenseman,” Coach Dean Stork commented.

Hegarty, 24, returns for his third professional year after a full season with the Road Warriors. The Arlington, Massachusetts native compiled 22 points (4G, 18A) and a +8 rating in 59 games with Greenville. The previous year, Hegarty posted nine points (3G, 6A) and a -7 rating with the Fort Wayne Komets. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks. Greenville, SC: Today the Greenville Road Warriors, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, announced the signings of defensemen Sean Escobedo, Patrick MacGregor and forward Phillipe Hudon.

“Sean and Patrick played on the same defensive line at Boston University so it’s great to bring in two guys who will have some chemistry right away,” Coach Stork said. “Phillipe has a great ability to finish checks and play the game with an edge. ROADIES EXTEND AGREEMENT WITH RANGERS FOR TWO MORE YEARS

Greenville, SC: The Greenville Road Warriors announced today they have extended their affiliation agreement with the NHL’s New York Rangers through the 2015-16 season.

The Greenville Road Warriors have been the primary “AA” affiliate of the New York Rangers since their inception in 2010.

“We are excited to continue our affiliation with Greenville for the next two seasons and look forward to working with Dean Stork and his staff as they help us develop our prospects for the NHL,” Rangers Assistant General Manager Jim Schoenfeld said.

This past season, Road Warriors alumnus, Cam Talbot, received a promotion to the NHL on October 24th making him the first Road Warrior to play for the Rangers. Talbot enjoyed success in New York, posting a 12-6-1 record with a .941 save percentage and a 1.64 goals against average. The 27-year-old netminder played for the Road Warriors in their inaugural season in 2010-2011. In addition, the Road Warriors sent forward Justin Vaive and defenseman Bretton Stamler to Hartford for the majority of the second half of the season. Stamler competed in 39 games amassing two goals, six assists, a +6 rating and 48 penalty minutes.

Road Warriors General Manager Chris Lewis continued, “We are extremely pleased to be continuing our partnership with the New York Rangers and look forward to providing a tremendous environment for the development of our prospects.”

The Road Warriors will continue to celebrate their partnership with the Rangers with third jerseys and uniforms modeled after the Rangers uniforms. This will mark the third straight year the Road Warriors will don the highly popular alternate jerseys and uniforms.

CAMERON COMING BACK TO GREENVILLE

Greenville, SC: Today the Greenville Road Warriors, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, announced the signing of forward Bretton Cameron.

“Bretton is going to be a valuable piece in solidifying a good leadership group, Coach Stork commented. “His hard work and determination to push himself and his teammates will help our team be successful. Bretton is one of the smartest and best two-way forwards in the league.”

Cameron returns for his fourth season with the Road Warriors after his acquisition in the 2011-2012 season. The 25-year-old has played in 134 career games as a Road Warrior. Cameron led the team with 119 penalty minutes in 2013-14, scored seven goals and added 12 assists in 61 games. In 2012-2013, he was promoted to the Texas Stars in the AHL where he collected five points (1G, 4A) in 21 games. The Didsbury, Alberta native served as an alternate captain last season.

“I’m excited to build off last year’s success,” Cameron said. “Greenville feels like a second home to me. I’ve enjoyed my time with the community and the dedicated Road Warriors fans. Greenville is one of the best cities in the league; it was an easy decision for me to return.”

The current Road Warriors training camp roster consists of 12 players:

NEW SIGNINGS IN GREENVILLE

greenville-road-warriors211Road Warriors Return Hynes and Sparks; Sign Johnston

Greenville, SC: Today the Greenville Road Warriors, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, announced the signings of forwards Brandon Hynes, Lindsay Sparks and defenseman Jacob Johnston.

“Brandon and Lindsay add lethal speed on the wing that will create odd-man rushes for our offense,” Coach Dean Stork commented. “Even though Jacob is a defenseman, he has a great two-way game, vision and breakout passes to help our team on the offense.”

Hynes returns to the Road Warriors after completing last season at St. Francis Xavier University. The 21-year-old skated in 20 games with the Road Warriors, compiling 14 points (7G, 7A) before returning to Canada to attend college in early December. While with the Road Warriors, he posted a five-game point streak, scored two game winning goals, and was named runner-up for ECHL Player of the Week. Hynes, a native of Norris Point, Newfoundland, played in 14 games with St. Francis Xavier University, scoring 16 points (6G, 10A).

“It’s a treat and a privilege to be given such an opportunity to come back to Greenville,” said Hynes. “I am excited to play with the core of players the Road Warriors have and I’m looking to continue to improve as a teammate and a professional player.”

Sparks, 23, split last season between the Road Warriors and the South Carolina Stingrays. He began the year with South Carolina, scoring 13 points (5G, 8A) in 28 games. The University of Michigan product was claimed off waivers by Greenville where he would make 15 appearances and tally eight points (2G, 6A). Sparks was born in Oakville, Ontario.

“It’s important we build off what the team did last year which adds to the excitement of returning,” Sparks continued. “I hope to continue to build my game to help the Road Warriors reach a championship.”

Johnston, 26, completed his rookie season with the Evansville IceMen last year and was acquired by the Road Warriors on June 16th. Johnston was second among IceMen defenseman with five goals and also added 15 assists while competing in 51 games. He is a native of Sudbury, Ontario and is a product of Dalhousie University.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of the Road Warriors family,” Johnston added. “It’s a great organization, town and community and I’m anxious to start the season and build off my rookie year.”

VAIVE COMING BACK TO GRENVILLE

Greenville, SC: Today the Greenville Road Warriors, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, announced the signing of forward Justin Vaive.

“I am thrilled to be adding Justin to the roster again this year. He is the type of player that can not only score but also brings a physical presence on the ice,” Coach Dean Stork said. “His ability to crash the net and fight for loose pucks makes him a tremendous offensive threat.”

Vaive (vie-vuh) only skated in 13 regular season games as a Road Warrior last season while splitting the year with the Hartford Wolf Pack. In his brief stint with Greenville, the power forward posted ten goals, eight assists and 20 penalty minutes. Vaive also played in 13 postseason games with Road Warriors, scoring six goals and five assists. The Buffalo, New York native dressed in 27 games with Hartford tallying one goal and four assists. He was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the fourth round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
