STORRS, CT – The University of Connecticut announced the four commits for their incoming recruiting class for the 2022-2023 season.
Atop the list of the talented prospects is defenseman Thomas Messineo from Westwood, MA. Messineo is from the St. Sebastian School and plays at Chilliwack (BCHL), where he has registered seven points in his first eleven games.
Forward, Tabor Heaslip will be a Husky in ’22-’23. Heaslip hails from Fort Worth, Texas. He’s 5’8 and weighs 159 pounds; and is a left-handed shot. He’s currently an Assistant Captain playing in the USHL for the Sioux City Musketeers. In twelve games played, he has just one assist. Last season, he played in 51 games scoring five goals and getting the helper on ten others (15 points). He played for two seasons for the Avon Old Farms Winged Beavers (CTPREP). In 2018-19, he scored 12 goals and had 15 assists (27 points) in 26 games. In 2019-20, he had 18 goals and 24 assists (42 points) in 27 games.
A FORWARD AND A DEFENSEMAN
A right-handed defenseman, Jack Pascucci, will patrol the Huskies blueline. The North Andover, Massachusetts native, is 6’2 and weighs 190 pounds. He’s playing in the USHL for the Des Moines Buccaneers. In the 2021-22 season, he played in nine games and tallied two assists. Before that, he took the ice with the Boston Jr. Bruins (NCDC) in 2020-21, where he scored three goals and added 16 assists (19 points) in 31 games. Pascucci played for The Governor’s Academy (NHPREP) in 2019-20, putting up 20 points on five goals and 15 assists in 31 games.
Also joining the Huskies upfront is forward Jake Percival, from Avon, Conn. Percival is 5’10 and weighs 180 pounds. He is a left-hander currently skating with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (USHL). Last season Percival was credited in eleven games and had two goals and five assists (7 points). Percival played three seasons at Millbrook School (MAPREP). In 2018-19, he scored four goals added five assists (9 points) in 29 games. In 2019-20, he had 46 points in 30 games on 21 goals and 25 assists. He had seven goals and seven assists in six games at Millbrook in 2020-21.
