Ray SchmittBY: Ray Schmitt, Voice of the Greenville Road Warriors

The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that forward Marc-Olivier Vallerand has been loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.

Vallerand, 22, is making the first trip of his career to the AHL. The second-year winger currently leads the Road Warriors, and ranks fifth in the ECHL, with 27 goals. His is coming off of a three point game (1G, 2A) on Friday night in helping the Road Warriors defeat the Trenton Titans 5-2.

As a rookie in 2010-11 Vallerand led the Road Warriors with 28 goals and was named to the 2011 ECHL All-Star Team. He had a goal and two assists in the All-Stars‘ victory over the host Bakersfield Condors. The 5-11, 200-pound native of Longueuil, Quebec has missed just three games in his time with Greenville and his 123 games played with Greenville are second only to T.J. Reynolds’ 125. His 55 goals for the team are more than any other player to suit up for the Road Warriors.
